The global annual market value of building commissioning services is expected to double in the next 8 years from $2.2 billion in 2012 to $4.4 billion in 2020, according to a new Pike Research Report.  Building commissioning services ensure that building systems are performing at optimum efficiency and meet their design expectations, and “commissioning helps building owners achieve the full value of their investments in energy efficiency and green building technology,” says senior research analyst Eric Bloom.

The Solar Foundation has announced that 119,016 Americans are employed in the solar industry.  13,872 new solar jobs were added in the past 12 months, representing a 13.2% employment growth rate (employment in the nation’s overall economy grew at a rate of 2.3% over the same period).

An analysis of Canadian corporate sustainability reports by the Conference Board found that there is considerable variation in the types of performance indicators that companies track and disclose, which could make it very difficult to measure progress and compare the performance of companies against one another.  The study found that 585 different indicators were disclosed in the 94 sustainability reports they examined.
